About Jealousy (2008)
Zinc, ribbon and silver
About Jealousy began with the ornamental forms of the mashrabiya and with the idea of a structure that allows one to look out while remaining partially concealed. I was interested in reducing decoration to its underlying grammar: curves, repetition, symmetry and enclosure. In the first piece, ornament becomes structure, no longer something applied to the object, but the object itself. The work moves between attraction and restraint, visibility and concealment, turning a decorative form into a spatial and relational one.
