Ursula. Immunizing Memories (2010–2012)
Cast objects, resin, metal, fabric and found jewellery
Ursula. Immunizing Memories explores the possibility of preserving what is fragile, absent or at risk of disappearing. Found objects, family belongings and domestic fragments are cast, transformed and reassembled into jewellery. A ring found in the street, my mother’s ring and its box, traces of wear and use: each object becomes the source of another form. The process of casting acts as a way of holding on to what is no longer fully present. What remains is not the object itself, but its imprint, its absence, and the possibility of a memory. Ursula is the name given to that possibility: a presence without a biography, a life that may never have existed, but that can still be imagined and remembered.
